Matanel Weissman, M.A. Psychology, Certified Focusing Professional
More importantly than my professional training, is my experience of having gone through a significant process myself in the matter of eating with Focusing and TAE (Thinking at the Edge). I offer experiential counseling, with individual sessions, workshops and courses about Focusing, TAE and eating. In my “Satiating The Big Picture” course clients learn experientially liberating skills to get free from shame and worries about food, so people can begin living the life they truly want. This involves applying skills of seeing the big picture, learning how to replace the root of shame with a root of competence, understanding how to align ones life with their strengths, understanding how to stop fighting the urge to eat and starting letting it carry forward by itself, along with getting to know your self better and listen to yourself in real time. In my Focusing Based Philosophy – Foundations of Focusing workshop, I covers how we can make a change in our unconscious, consciously, and how we can take our lives a step further even when the future does not function as safe ground. This involves addressing how a change in the body is a first step toward behaving a change in relationships, in life, in goals, etc.
Matanel is a wise and intuitive guide and his unique process to engage with Hunger is profound. As expected, I learned much about my behaviors, habits and choices around the theme of Hunger. I wasn’t expecting to develop deep reverence and wonder for the presence of Hunger and it’s service to my very existence. In place of shame and self loathing, I have tools of engagement to learn more about what my specific Hungers are reaching for! Thank you Matanel for sharing your gifts and making my life more wonder-filled. LJ
Matanel is a gifted and special teacher. He combines sharp intelligence, gentle intuition, and creativity. I was surprised by how safe and special our group came to be for me. I would take a class on anything that he offers to teach! L.R
Gratitude that you shared with me a way, a path, a process. A way that I can make my own in how to notice, become intrigued and open up to a life process that may be a bit entangled and stuck in me. It has surprised me to experience significant changes in the way I approach food in so little time spent together. A.G.
